Elsie was a chorus girl who met her husband, Warren Lassiter of the Lassiter Brothers from the Publix vaudeville troupe, when the brothers joined Taka Chance in Denver. They later married in New York. The Lassiter Brothers and Elsie Newlin and her sister, Anna Newlin, toured the U.S. and Europe in vaudeville while part of the Taka Chance vaudeville troupe.
