DateEarly 1900sSummaryThomas S. Jones was the first sheriff of Mineral County, Colorado. He moved to Creede in 1892 and opened up the Diamond Shoe Store. He immediately became involved in local politics (Democrat) and when Mineral County was formed in 1893, Colorado Governor Waite appointed him sheriff. He then followed up by being elected sheriff and served from 1893-1896.
