Kenneth Jessen photo collectionNotesDerived title. Photographer's note: "It is difficult to classify Wezel as a town since it never amounted to anything more than two homes, a barn and an outhouse. However, it was a stopping place along a stage road, and it did have a post office. German-born Louis Paul Wezel came to the United States in 1884 and worked various jobs. After 16 years, he and his wife Gesine Elizabeth and their 5-year old child, George, homesteaded near the confluence of Middle Rush Creek and its south fork. While they constructed an adobe home, the family lived in a cave."DonorGift; Kenneth Jessen; 2020.
