Kenneth Jessen photo collectionNotesPhotographer's note: "Vollmar was named after George Vollmar who owned the town site. The Denver, Laramie & Northwestern built through Vollmar in 1908, and the town plat was filed two years later by the Denver & Laramie Realty Company, a subsidiary of the railroad. The Vollmar post office closed in 1912, and the railroad was abandoned in 1917. Vollmar's heyday was short-lived. Today, Vollmar's main street has its share of abandoned buildings. Its location is east of County Road 23. A side road north on County Road 20 leads through the town site to the South Platte River."DonorGift; Kenneth Jessen; 2020.
