Kenneth Jessen photo collectionNotesDerived title. Photographer's note: "Trinchera Plaza, located along the southern border of Colorado in Las Animas County, is a historical dilemma. Very little information exists other than the fact it is southwest of Trinchera and on County Road 14.4 that it was originally called San José, however, postal records indicated that San José became Grinnell, not Trinchera Plaza, in 1878. Other sources indicate it is was preceded by a town called Brazil. The Brazil post office operated from 1895 to 1899 and from 1911 to 1912. As far as is known, Trinchera Plaza never had a post office or a school. Today, it is a collection of homes, most abandoned."DonorGift; Kenneth Jessen; 2020.
