Kenneth Jessen photo collectionNotesPhotographer's note: "Fondis was a rural post office located about 11 miles east of Elbert, and was in operation from 1895 to 1954. The wife of Mr. Burns, its first postmaster, named Fondis for an Italian hotel. Although listed on contemporary maps, the site is nearly abandoned. The church has been converted into a home and two stores sit in ruins on the west side of County Road 69. There is also an abandoned home and a row of trees that may have been the entrance to another property."DonorGift; Kenneth Jessen; 2020.
