It had a store, two churches, propane station, fire station, trailer park and a school located one mile to the south. Most of its original structures remain today, and it is not a ghost town. Its post office operated from 1895 to 1916. Ellicott is named for a pioneer from Kansas, George Ellicott. He opened the post office in his home one mile west of the present site. The town has residents and is not entirely abandoned."DonorGift; Kenneth Jessen; 2020.
