There may have been a community centered near the school, as there are a few abandoned buildings nearby. Edison did not have a post office. The site is at the intersection of Neely Road and Edison Road. Edison was part of a school district that straddled El Paso and Pueblo counties. Eventually, it was not practical to have a school district cut by a county line so a separate district was formed. The modern school at the site was constructed in 1922. With the consolidation of outlying districts at this time, one-room schoolhouses were moved to Edison and converted into teacherages. This included Centennial, Holmes and Leader."DonorGift; Kenneth Jessen; 2020.
