Born-Digital or AnalogAnalogTranscriptZang Brewery FROM BEER TO DUST in fifty-five years. Beneath the towering impressiveness of the old Zang brewery smokestack they first made beer in 1883. Then came prohibition and near beer. After that the plant turned out ice cream. Now--more than a half century later-the wrecking crew is at work. At 10:30 A.M. Tuesday the historic landmark at Seventh and Water streets tumbled out of existence when a charge of dynamite was set off at.its base. The building was sold recently to a wrecking company by the English holding company which, has owned it in recent years.
