Christiane Citron, an attorney, has been a leader in the Denver arts and historic preservation for many years. She served as the chair of the Board of Directors of the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities from 1994 to 1998. As executive director of the Colorado Center for the Book from 1998 to 2005, she produced the Rocky Mountain Book Festival and oversaw restoration of the Thomas Hornsby Ferril house. She was also instrumental in saving Denver’s Mayan Theatre from demolition, and she currently gives tours of the theatre. She was a founding member of the board of directors of Colorado Preservation, Inc. She is also the Art Executor for the Estate of Minna Citron, for whom she has lectured and organized exhibitions around the country. Minna Citron, who had also been a New Deal muralist, got to know Paul Mechau at the Colorado Rocky Mountain School, when she was Artist-in-Residence there.
