Summary
May 25, 1917: photo of the officers present for the Los Angeles, California Salvation Army Congress held in May 1917. The photo shows the 19 male and 20 female participants standing in front of the Industrial Home and Store at 127 First Street of the Los Angeles Corps Salvation Army. A hotel, harness shop, and other businesses are also in view.

Title from photograph. Text on photo: Officers present at the Salvation Army Congress, Los Angeles, Cal., May 25-1917; #641 Weaver, 44-452 1/2 S-B'dway. L.A. Religious organization founded in England in 1865 by Minister William Booth to help the poor, the homeless, the hungry and the destitute. Los Angeles, California Corps established prior to 1887 in the Skid Row area of the city. In 1892, Corps moved to First Street where the organization occupied a large structure containing a hotel for transient men and a men's industrial complex. Congress meetings were held periodically for Corps officers.
