Call NumberZ-11637Date1980-1990SummaryView of the 16th (Sixteenth) Street Mall and the Denver Dry Goods Department Store on California Street between 15th (Fifteenth) Street and 16th (Sixteenth Street) in the Central Business District of Denver, Colorado. The block long brick, sand and lime stone building was built in several sections. The original section, in the distance, is six stories and has a cornice with dentils and decorative brackets. Architect Frank Edbrooke added the addition on 16th Street with round, arched fourth story windows, a Renaissance Revival influenced frieze, and a bracketed cornice, he also added the sixth story to the original structure. The final addition was the setback addition atop the building. Awnings cover the stores display windows and American flags are clustered over the entrance.
