Call NumberNS-691Datecirca 1901SummaryWilliam Frederick "Buffalo Bill" Cody peeks through a peephole in the arena tent for Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. Cody wears thigh boots, a buckskin coat with tassles, and a hat, possibly a Stetson. Another person, probably Johnny Baker, Cody's foster son and a star of the show known as the "Cowboy Kid," stands looking through the peephole with Cody. A group of men on horseback, including Russian Cossacks, Mexican vaqueros and cavalrymen from several nations, awaits Cody's cue to enter the arena. Cody reportedly liked to watch the progress of the Wild West Show through the peephole. The announcer and Cody also reportedly worked out a system whereby the announcer would signal Cody when it was time to prepare for the next act.Physical Description1 copy photonegative |8 x 10 cm (3 1/4 x 4 in.)|1 photoprint : black and white |9 x 12 cm (3 1/2 x 4 3/4 in.) on album sheet 18 x 24 cm (7 x 9 1/2 in.)Born-Digital or AnalogAnalogSubjectWild west showsCavalry 1900-1910Buffalo Bill, 1846-1917Buffalo Bill's Wild West ShowCollectionPhotographs - Western HistoryRelated MaterialImage File: ZZR700105691Type of MaterialFilm negativesPhotographic printsDigital Version Created FromSalsbury collection, Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, album 5Original Material Found in CollectionSalsbury collection, Buffalo Bill's Wild West ShowNotes1901 handwritten on inside cover of album|"1902" handwritten and then scribbled out on inside cover of album.
