Call NumberNS-324Datecirca 1889SummarySeveral small groups of cowboys stand in front of a group of tents for "Nebraska Cowboys" at a camp for Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show in Europe, possibly in Paris. William Frederick "Buffalo Bill" Cody stands in the right center background with a man and woman and leans against a tall flag pole bearing the American flag. Additional American flags hang on either side of a stuffed buffalo head above the entrance to the tent near Cody. The man leaning against a flag pole near Cody is possibly Nate Salsbury, owner and manager of the Wild West Show. A large stuffed buffalo is on the side of the tent in the center background. John Burke, press agent for the show, stands with his hand on the rope surrounding the tent in the left midground. William Levi "Buck" Taylor, "King of the Cowboys" and a star of the show, stands in the left center midground with his hands in his pockets. Several of the men wear watch fobs.Physical Description1 photoprint : black and white |17 x 23 cm (6 1/2 x 9 in.) on album sheet 25 x 30 cm (9 1/2 x 11 1/2 in.)Born-Digital or AnalogAnalogSubjectWild west showsCowboysFlags--AmericanBuffalo Bill, 1846-1917Burke, John, d. 1917Taylor, William LeviBuffalo Bill's Wild West ShowCollectionPhotographs - Western HistoryRelated MaterialImage File: ZZR700105324Type of MaterialPhotographic printsDigital Version Created FromSalsbury collection, Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, album 1Original Material Found in CollectionSalsbury collection, Buffalo Bill's Wild West ShowNotesMrs. Salsbury with Henry G.
