Summary
View of the Battle of Platte Bridge at Platte Bridge Station (later Fort Caspar), on July 26, 1865, near present day Casper (Natrona County), Wyoming. United States Army troops stand near both ends of the bridge over the North Platte River, to defend themselves against an attack by North American Indians (Arapahoe, Cheyenne, Sioux). Military officers are on horseback. The Indians ride horseback and approach the troops from two directions. Shows tepees, log station buildings, a howitzer, and a covered wagon.
