Call NumberX-1200Date1870-1910SummaryExterior view of a store in Georgetown, Colorado. The owner, Charles Pollard, was a pioneer groceryman in Georgetown and ran the Barton House hotel from 1874 to 1876 and from 1884 to about 1896. The man on the left in the photoprint is George Barrett, who also ran the Barton House at one time. The building has a false front; the area above the first floor reads in large letters "GROCERIES. AND PROVISIONS."; a sign at right angles to the entrance reads, "HARDWARE." The first floor of the facade is divided into three sections by doric pilasters; the center entrance has recessed double doors, with large windows on either side. A window over the doors reads "CHAS. W. POLLARD 506". Visible in the windows are ladles, rolling pins, lanterns, saws, frying pans, and other items. In addition to Barrett on the left, three men are seen in the doorway; two wear suits with watch chains, and the third, on the right, is younger and holds a stick, possibly a broom. One of the men is Sam Strousse, also a businessman. Three boxes are stacked in front of the men; one is marked "Pollard & Co, G-town". A board sidewalk runs in front of the building, and the unpaved street is in the foreground.Physical Description1 copy photonegative ; 18 x 13 cm (7 x 5 in.); 1 photoprint ; 16 x 1o cm (6 1/4 x 3 3/4 in.)Born-Digital or AnalogAnalogSubjectGeorgetown (Colo.)CollectionPhotographs - Western HistoryRelated MaterialImage File: ZZR710001200Type of MaterialFilm negativesPhotographic printsDigital Version Created FromRandallNotesFormerly F125.
