The hotel was constructed by Louis Dupuy, the proprietor, from three separate buildings, and was completed in 1890. A stucco surface covers the building giving the illusion of masonry. The building is two story, has a cornice along the top, a sign under the cornice which reads, "Hotel de Paris," and elaborate pediments over the windows; the entrance is in the center of the first floor; a sign reads, "Louis Dupuy" over the door. A balcony with a wire railing is on the west side of the building; on the first level columns holding it up form a porch. On the wall under the porch part of a painting states "Hotel de Paris; large bushes are in front of the porch. One pedimented door is in the side wall, a sign reading, "The Hotel de Paris" is in the upper left corner, and at the roofline, which has iron decoration, are three metal chimneys and a sculptural figure with a raised arm, apparently representing justice. The first story extends beyond the hotel proper to the right; it is topped by a balustrade, and a sculpture of a deer. In the foreground is a tall pole, and a light fixture hangs over the intersection of Sixth and Taos Streets.
