The tent in the background has a wood frame. A top hat and a poster of Buffalo Bill lie on a table which stands in the tent. Salsbury was an actor and managed the Salsbury Troubadours before taking over as manager of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show in 1883. Born in Freeport, Illinois in 1846, Salsbury first met William Frederick "Buffalo Bill" Cody in New York in 1882. The pair joined forces the following year and Salsbury led Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show to enormous success in the United States and Europe.
