Call NumberNS-8Datecirca 1922SummaryReproduction of oil painting depicting William Frederick "Buffalo Bill" Cody on horseback. Cody rests his right hand on his hip and holds the reins to the horse's bridle in his left hand. The bridle is decorated with shells placed together to form flowers. Cody wears a buckskin coat with tassels and colorful beads adorning it. His thigh boots were reportedly made by J. Neary of North Platte, Nebraska, especially for Cody's appearance in England in 1892. Cody also wears a wide-brimmed hat, probably a Stetson.Physical Description1 copy photoprint : col. ; 31 x 24 cm (12 x 9 1/2 in.)Born-Digital or AnalogAnalogSubjectWild west showsEntertainersHorsesBuffalo Bill, 1846-1917Buffalo Bill's Wild West ShowCollectionPhotographs - Western HistoryType of MaterialArtPhotographic printsPortrait paintingsOriginal Material Found in CollectionSalsbury collection, Buffalo Bill's Wild West ShowNotesReproduction of color oil painting by Robert Lindneux in 1922.
