Native American (Navajo) men and women sit or stand beside a loom near old Fort Defiance (McKinley County), New Mexico. A man wears a woven shirt, leather leggings and moccasins and holds a bow and arrow. A man wears a loin cloth and leans against a tree trunk. People wear woven blankets and moccasins. A bundle of corn is in a tree.

Seal printed on mat board reads: "War Department, Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army" beside an eagle and banner emblem that reads: "Essayons". Title, attribution and "No. 10" printed on mat board.
