Preserving Black Western Legacies
Details
Alternate TitlePreserving Black Western Legacies Grant ProjectSummaryThe Rocky Mountain region hosts a web of narratives around Black leaders and communities who have enriched the national narrative on Black history. This includes the legacies of the Lincoln Hills Resort and Dearfield community, Colorado House of Representatives Arie Parks Taylor and the Honorable Wilma J. Webb, and community leaders such as Elvin Caldwell and Marie Greenwood. These are a few of many examples to which we can look for African American leadership and resilience. With funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, Denver Public Library digitized the most used of these collections in the Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library. The following collections are represented within this grant:
*Elvin R. Caldwell (ARL1)
*Isaac Edward Moore (ARL4)
*John and Edna Mosley (ARL6)
