Later Regimental Pack Officer and C.O. [Commanding Officer] 5th Alpini Reparto (Company Italy, 1945). The mule "Molly" was one of a few that could be trained to ride. It was trained by the stable sergeant -- 85th [Mountain Infantry] at Ft Lewis - 1942. Note: Mules in background were trained and docile -- used in pack training.
