Construction on the building began in 1874, and the entire building cost $8,000.00 to complete. It is a two story, brick building with a bracketed cornice and a flat roof. The rectangular upper windows have lintels and sills and the lower level has rounded windows with decorative brickwork arched over the top. The window trim is painted a darker color than the brick. The words "New Hotel" are painted over the top of the corner window. A triangular-shaped roof piece has the year 1874 on it. The entrance to the building is on Main Street. A telephone post is next to the building. The Hense block is to the left.
