Photograph of the Defense Civil Preparedness Agency located in Lakewood, Colorado. Building 710 was constructed in 1969 and is important for its association with Cold War Era military history. Designed to withstand a nuclear attack, the two-story underground building, of reinforced concrete, served as the Defense Civil Preparedness Agency's Region 6 Operations Center. Since 1979, it has been utilized by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as its Region 8 Operations Center.
