MRS. DWIGHT D- EISENHOWER
Gettysburg, Pa.
April 14, 1969
Dear Dan:
You were dear to telephone me at the
time of Ike's passing. My only regret
was that I did not see you and did not
know where you were staying.
Today I am in Washington for John's
swearing-in ceremony as Ambassador to
Belgium. He was a tower of strength
these past few weeks and I don't know
what I would have done without him.
Thank you for your thought, Dan; it
was wonderful to know you were thinking of me in my time of sorrow.
Sincerely,
The Honorable
Dan Thornton
