CHUN Board Meeting

The meeting was called to order by President, Mike Henry at 7:30.
Bernie Jones and Jim James read seperate statements they wished to present to the JeuVcr
Metropolitan Study with CHUN's endorsement. Because of conflicts between tne two
statements and lack of time for proper discussion, tne board recommended not endorsing
either position at this time.
Board members heard a debate between Anthony Jaasun of zoning administration, Chuck Nef
a representative of the citizen's coalition to restrict billboards, and iticnard Holme,
lawyer for Slier Outdoor Advertising concerning the billboard ordinance up for public hearing
before City Council, June 28. CHUN chose by a vote of 12 to 2 to support, in principle,
the citizen's coalition.
Patty Jackson, reported $190.70 in our treasury.
A sign-up sliest for the People's Fair in 1977 was passed around. Interested people may

The Education Committee with David Blair as chairman was constituted.
Mike Henry was authorized to write a letter to the owners, opposing the demolition of the
The liquor store at 13th and Vine was defeated due to the work of Paul Scnluger.
Bernie Jones suggested that CHUN should be thinking of possibilities for that storefront.
A committee to study the city budget was constituted. Joe Zolkind, Jim James and Chuck
Nefzger will be on the committee.
Both sets of defendants have filed answers in the lawsuit CHUN has brought against the
Board of Zoning-Adjustments concerning the high rise at 12th and Race.
Jim Kayser reported the first nart of the one-way street report, by the traffic department,
is available and the transportation committee is meeting regularly to decide on future steps.
The Neighbors Against Crime Together meeting is still being planned.
The next board meeting will be July 22.
