Miss Julia Douglas, the librarian of the Evergreen library
Date
[1917-1936]
Summary
Julia Brewster Douglas, a former teacher and New Jersey librarian and a sister of Canon Winfred Douglas, opened the Evergreen library in 1917 in a grocery store in Evergreen, Colorado. Later it was located in a stone and timber building above the Church of the Transfiguration. Julia sits reading a book which is leaning against a diagonal stack of books at a table in the library; a young woman wearing a flowered hat and holding a book stands behind near a bookshelf. A table with chairs and books, more shelves, a radiator, and a pot of aspen leaves are also in the shadowy room with wood plank walls.
