Garland City, Colorado, includes a main street with businesses and large buildings which may be hotels, smaller wood buildings, and railroad track. Snow covers the town, the brush-covered hill behind, and the Sierra Blanco mountain range in the distance. The town was a construction camp while the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad was being built over La Veta Pass; when the railroad reached Alamosa in May 1878, the entire town moved there.
