A group of men, women and children poses in front of the Kemp family log cabin near Eldora in Boulder County, Colorado. Photographer Donald C. Kemp's father John H. Kemp sits with young Don and his brother Robert on the steps to the cabin. Kemp was a mine operator in Central City in Gilpin County before deciding in 1891 to move his family north to Boulder County where he owned the Happy Valley Placer Mine. Mrs. Kemp stands near the window of the cabin. Ida Kruse ; McFarlane sits with the young boys near the door, where two men, possibly Fred and Andy Rogers, stand. Edgar Collins and Fred Kruse (a grocer) lie on the ground near the steps. Margie Becker (later Mrs. A. L. Collins) stands near the steps wearing a large hat. Two additional men sit in a horse-drawn buggy in the right midground.
