Summary	$1,000 and tons of ore had been blocked out as a reserve. That year, Breed sold the mine to a group of investors from Holland for about $3 million with a cash down payment of $1.5 million. The mine is probably most famous for producing the silver ingots used to pave Eureka Street in front of the Teller House in Central City when President Ulysses S. Grant visited the mining region. The ingots were reportedly worth about $12,000.; 1871, Breed and his partner O. B. Cutter announced plans to build a reduction works in Nederland designed especially to treat the silver ores from the Caribou Mine. The mill, completed by January of 1872, reportedly cost $75,000 and was designed to treat 30 tons of ore every 24 hours. Also built as part of the complex were an assay office, weighing house, manager's office and residence, storehouses and stables. By 1873, the average daily output of the mine was about ; Abel D. Breed, co-owner of the Caribou Mine in Caribou, a mining town in Boulder County, Colorado, pours coffee into a cup from a silver coffee service made from silver from his mine. He sits next to the table where the service is set and wears a suit with a bow tie. He has a full beard and moustache. The Caribou Mine was one of the richest silver producers of its time. Breed purchased the west half of the mine Sept. 5, 1870 and the remainder of it Aug. 25, 1871. Also in
