On the hill behind the Retallack House along Pine Street are several "sporting" houses that comprised the Red Light District of Central City until almost 1920. The Coeur d'Alene Mine ; stands above the sporting houses on Gunnell Hill in the right background. Several horse-drawn carriages are in the foreground.; The St. Aloysius Academy, a Catholic school, stands on Gunnell Hill in Central City, Colorado. A long set of wood steps leads from the academy down the hill to St. Mary's Catholic Church on Pine Street, where a large group of people is gathered, possibly after mass. The Catholic rectory stands next to the church on Pine Street. Another large group of people is gathered in front of the Central City Post Office in the right foreground on Main Street after the mail stage
