A studio portrait (standing) of Suriap (Su-ru-ipe), a Native American (Yampah) warrior, son of Lodge Pole, a prominent chief and warrior. Suriap wears his long hair secured in ties. He has small metal hoop earrings, wears a deerskin tunic with decorative patterning, fringed sleeves, banded and fringed cuffs. A dark hide sash from shoulder to hip shows three distinct beaded designs. He wears a deerskin tobacco pouch with long fringes and decorative beading. His deerskin leggings have wide contrast bead ornamentation on the sides and panels that flare and fall to the floor. His hide moccasins have wide cuffs.
