Summary
Mrs. Helen Lowrie Marshall stands reciting her poem on a platform on the north side of the Castle Rock Courthouse, Douglas County, Colorado. She wears a waistlength fur coat, patterned skirt, hat, boots and eyeglasses. Two men sit on folding chairs beside her. The 55-man Air Force Academy Cadet Chorale, wearing long uniform dress coats and caps, and the 80-voice choir of Douglas County High School and Junior High School form a semi-circle to perform Christmas carols for the fourth annual formal ceremony for the thirty-eighth annual lighting of star on top of the Castle Rock rhyolite lava rock formation.
