The Star Hook and Ladder Company firemen pose in the center of Sixth (6th, Alpine) Street in Georgetown, Colorado. The fourteen firemen wear long white underwear and trunks or knee breeches, and several wear star insignia; men in the back stand with arms folded and the first row squats. A small boy in a conductor-style cap, a wide white collar, a cluster of flowers (?) and a ribbon on his chest, carries a horn and stands in the middle of the front row. Second from the left is William Hamill, mine owner and millionaire, and patron for the fire company. Wood construction buildings on the left have signs "Bolton & Owen, Contractors and Builders" and "Duncan, Carpenter."
