A large crowd is gathered on sloping ground at the ceremony for the laying of the cornerstone of the Summit County Courthouse in Breckenridge, Colorado. The men wear suits and hats and the women are in dresses and elegant hats. Within the crowded enclosed area, a man stands behind a block of concrete that is the focal point for the entire throng. Behind him, an upright beam with pulleys hanging from it has an American flag atop it, and to the right, the Masons stand in aprons with their hats off and held over their hearts. The concrete for this block was mixed with Breckenridge gold, and a box of historical artifacts was placed next to it. The back side of the Methodist Episcopal Church is in the right, and evergreens and mountains are in the background.
