Scene in Manitou Springs, Colorado, looking north at the Soda Spring Pavilion and the Cliff House. The Pavilion is a frame structure with a cross-gable roof and a cupola with flagpole; the foundation is knee- high rusticated stone. The east half is open air, with fancy woodwork in the gables in the form of sunbursts. Behind it is the Jerome Wheeler residence, with an addition under construction. Right of center is the Cliff House, a three-story frame structure with a wrap around porch and balcony, a widows' walk, and sign at the soffit level: "Cliff House." The south wing is a two-story frame structure with porch and covered balcony, gable roof, and two chimneys. The end gable is ornamented with fancy wood work. Behind the Cliff House are three residences; footbridges across Ruxton and Fountain Creeks in the foreground; the rustic gazebo replaced by the Pavilion is over the Cheyenne Spring.
