A view of a parade on Monday, July 5, 1897, in Georgetown, Colorado, looking north on Taos Street from Fifth Street. The parade is coming down the street towards the photographer. The mounted police, three men in suits wearing bowler hats and riding horses, are at the beginning of the parade. Behind them is the Georgetown Brass Band in dark uniforms. The members include: White, Satriano, clarinets; Bariaittler (?), Conway, Keck, cornets; Rogers, bass; Emmons, baritone; Post, Collins, Rubado, tenors; Rodda, Wotapek, altos; Nash, Fitzpatrick, drums. Behind the Band are the Georgetown Reserves dressed in white hats and jackets with braid and dark trousers. On the left side of the street people stand in front of the Elliott House hotel watching the parade; across the street in front of the Ennis Hotel is a telephone or telegraph pole, with advertising bills posted; one reads "Pyle's Pearline." Small trees grow along the street, and American flags are displayed on both sides of the street. The Cushman Block is visible on the left side of the street in the next block. |
