Summary	Studio portrait of Hispanic American State Representative Casimiro Barela and his wife Damiana Rivera de Barela. Damiana stands, she wears a long, black silk dress with a fitted Basque and a bustle, the bodice is decorated with black lace. She wears her hair parted in the middle and pilled back into a bun. Her husband sits beside his wife. He wears a black suit and vest, celluloid collar and a wide necktie. He has a watch fob on his vest. He wears his dark hair parted on the side, and combed back and has a walrus mustache.

Notes	Content derived from inventory prepared by Dana EchoHawk.; From inventory: "Casimiro Barela was a Representative to the Colorado Territorial Legislature in 1872, elected to the first Colorado State Legislative Assembly in 1876 and served in public office until 1912. In 1893 he served as interim Governor of Colorado. He successfully introduced legislation to publish the Colorado State Constitution in Spanish and German as well as in English."
