On back of photograph: "Mounted reconnaissance troops of the 10th Mountain Division ride up a dusty [road] in the TOle area of Italy. They are the only mounted reconnaissance troops in the U.S. Army. THey are going into action tonight north of Tole. THere are no roads in this area for armored reconnaissance units to use. U.S. Fifth Army. 17 April 1945"
