The Custer Battlefield Museum in Garryowen, Montana February 8, 2006 is owned by Christopher Kortlander. Christopher Kortlander (cq) , Director of the Custer Battlefield Museum, and owner of Garryowen, the location where the Battle of the Little Bighorn began, wants to build a new museum to house the collection he already owns and the Elizabeth Custer collection he recently acquired. The Elizabeth Custer collection consists of over 10,000 documents from the personal collection of Libby Custer, the widow of General George Armstrong Custer. The collection has not been researched and has just been cataloged. The new museum will be called The Elizabeth Custer Library and Museum of Frontier Women of the West.
