Dr. Joe Medicine Crow (cq) a Crow Indian historian and author, stands in front of the Custer Battlefield Museum in Garryowen, Montana February 7, 2006. His grandfather, "White Man Runs Him" was a scout for Custer at the Battle of the Little Big Horn and survived the battle. Dr. Joe Medicine Crow is last person to hear accounts of the battle directly from a person whom was there. He supports Christopher Kortlander (cq) , Director of the Custer Battlefield Museum, who wants to build a new museum to house the collection he already owns and the Elizabeth Custer collection he recently acquired. The Elizabeth Custer collection consists of over 10,000 documents from the personal collection of Libby Custer, the widow of General George Armstrong Custer. The collection has not been researched and has just been cataloged. The new museum will be called The Elizabeth Custer Library and Museum of Frontier Women of the West.
