Dan Jensen, of South Dakota, who has an artificial leg, is weighed-in before starting Kiehl's Badwater Ultramarathon in Death Valley, Calif., on Monday, July 24, 2006. Runners weigh-in so they can monitor how much weight they lose during the race. Weight loss is a way to monitor how much fluid the runner has lost. The 135 mile race goes from Badwater, the lowest point in the U.S. at 282 feet below sea level to Mt. Whitney Portals at 8,360 ft. in elevation. (CHRIS SCHNEIDER/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS) ** Dan Jensen
