Cardiovascular technician Gail Rowe(cq) coils up a catheter used in a procedure at the North Suburban Medical Center in Thorton Wednesday, July 12, 2006. North Suburban Medical Center in Thornton was recently recognized as a mentor hospital for its work on acute myocardial infarction (AMI, or heart attack) care. This includes involving emergency first responders in the cardiac care process. EMS teams conduct tests to determine if a heart attack is occurring and relay this information back to the hospital before the patient even arrives, speeding up the process of receive care and involving the entire community.
