Albert Verderaime, 86, covers his ears with one hand as he waves with the other while watching the Aguilar Days Festival parade in Aguilar, Colo. July 16, 2006. Verderaime has seen a lot of changes in Aguilar. He grew up in the small town. His folks opened a bakery in the town in 1928 and he took over the business in 1947. Aguilar once prospered from the numerous coal mines in the area, but over the years the town has dwindled as many of its residents, mainly young people, were forced to leave in order to find work. But every July hundreds of people who left Aguilar return for the annual Aguilar Days Festival for three days of celebrating and remembering days past.
