Billy Vigil, 10, of Trinidad, rides his bike in front of the old Aguilar State Bank building in downtown Aguilar, Colo. July 15,2006. The sandstone building was built in 1912 and like many of the older buildings in Aguilar it is in bad shape. The bank is on the Colorado State Register of Historic Places and many residents hope to one day see it restored. Aguilar once prospered from the numerous coal mines in the area, but over the years the town has dwindled as many of its residents, mainly young people, were forced to leave in order to find work. But every July hundreds of people who left Aguilar return for the annual Aguilar Days Festival for three days of celebrating and remembering days past.(DARIN MCGREGOR/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS) **Billy Vigil (cq)
