One thing that is quite noticable at Taos Ski Valley is the lack of snowboards, which aren't allowed at the ski area (only skis and snowblades are allowed). Taos, celebrating its 50th year of world-class skiing this season, is a short drive from the Southwestern town of Taos, N.M. and features 12 lifts and more than 2,600 vertical feet of lift-serviced elevation. It is also one of the last ski areas in the country that doesn't allow snowboards permitting only skis and snowblades on their slopes. (MARC PISCOTTY/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS) CQ
