(Denver, Colorado, 1/26/2006) Douglass Elementary School is following some new brain research in an effort to reduce the achievement gap between boys and girls (based on CSAP scores). Douglass has been working with an institute in Colorado Springs to employ new teaching techniques based on this brain research. David Molina, 9, (l) (cq) and Matthew Harlan, (cq) 9, both third graders, read poetry in the hallway where they both said it was quieter then the classroom and they can concentrate better. Matthew said he prefers to study with someone else because it keeps him from getting tired. (JUDY DEHAAS/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS) David Molina, 9, (cq), Matthew Harlan (cq)
