(NYT63) TIJUANA, Mexico -- Feb. 9, 2006 -- MEXICO-NEWSPAPER -- Jesus Blancornelas, the founder and publisher of Zeta, at the newspaper headquarters in Tijuana, Mexico, on December 1, 2005. Blancornelas has seen three journalists killed in the past nine years. The brazen attack on El Manana, the biggest newspaper in Nuevo Laredo, underscored an ugly truth: Mexico has become one of the most dangerous places to practice journalism, outside of Iraq. Drug dealers and corrupt police officers regularly kill those who write about them, leading most reporters to censor themselves, journalists say. (Adriana Zebrauskas/The New York Times)
