Tiffany Alexander (cq, right) of Cortez, Co. has some postcards hand cancelled with the Cliff Palace Special Cancellation at the Mesa Verde National Park Post Office by Postmaster Relief Jean Burge (cq, left) of Lewis, Co. on Thursday June 29, 2006. Alexander was getting some gifts for volunteers at the Colorado Welcome Center. On June 29, 1906 Theodore Roosevelt designated Mesa Verde a national park, the first cultural national park in the history of the world. The park will celebrate it's 100th birthday with a weekend of events, dancing, musical entertainment and special tours of some of the cliff dwellings.
