Henry Wilen (cq, left), 10, of Palo Alto, Ca. catches a ray of light in his hands inside a kiva at the Spruce Tree House dwelling at Mesa Verde National Park near Cortez, Co. on Wednesday June 28, 2006. On June 29, 1906 Theodore Roosevelt designated Mesa Verde a national park, the first cultural national park in the history of the world. The park will celebrate it's 100th birthday with a weekend of events, dancing, musical entertainment and special tours of some of the cliff dwellings. The kivas were used in religious ceremonies by the ancestral puebloans who inhabited Mesa Verde. (MARC PISCOTTY/ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS) CQ Henry Wilen
